Who are we?

Orcas is a platform that connects students from KG to Grade 12 across all school systems (National & International) with tutors who can teach all subjects.

As an Orcas tutor, you can join our platform regardless of your experience years in tutoring. However, the more experience you have, the higher your level will be. Your level decides what your hourly rate will be. Please click here for more information on tutors rates.

Creating A Tutor Profile

  • Once your application has been accepted, your tutor profile will be added to Orcas 

  • You’ll be able to choose the subjects that you can help with and the locations that you want to work in

Receiving Session Requests

  • Parents and students will be able to find your profile and send you messages

  • Start chatting with parents to coordinate tutoring sessions 

  • The parent/student will pay for the session in advance 

  • Once you’ve completed the agreed number of sessions, your salary will be transferred to you via bank transfer or CIB Wallet.

Frequently asked questions

Q:How long can it take to become an Orcas tutor?

You need to complete the following steps to successfully register as a tutor: 1-Complete the application form 2- Watch onboarding videos 3-Take a quick quiz asking you about the onboarding video 4- Sign service agreement contract This process might take 1-2 hours in total.

Q: How much will I earn as an Orcas tutor?

A: At Orcas, we have 4 levels; Bronze, Silver, Gold & Platinum. For Bronze, Silver & Gold we already have an hourly rate that cannot be changed. However, if you joined as a Platinum you will be able to set your own hourly rate. Please click here to know more about the hourly rates details

Q: Can I teach online?

Of course you can. At Orcas, you have the option to choose whether you want to teach online or offline or even do both at the same time. In case you’ve chosen to do offline, you get the option to choose the areas you want to work at to make sure you’ll only get requests from these areas.

Q: How many students can I work with?

Currently, we allow a maximum of 4 students per session. Stay tuned for more updates on our upcoming features regarding group sessions.

Q: Where do tutoring sessions take place?

As an Orcas tutor, you are the one who decides whether to work online or offline or even both. If you choose to work offline, you decide the location of your availability. Your sessions will take place at the student house.

Q: What are the working hours?

You’re free to pre-set your calendar based on your availability. Also, when you start a conversation with a client, make sure to be very clear about your availability because you will be committed once you do the agreement.

Q: What happens if I can’t accept a tutoring request?

As a general rule, please make sure to make yourself offline if you can’t accept a request for any reason. If you don’t accept a request your acceptance rate will be affected, and very soon, your acceptance rate will be displayed on your profile.

Q: Do I have to pay a fee?

No. You do not have to pay any fee. Orcas takes it’s commission from the students.

Q: How do I receive my salary?

Q: Do I have to upload a picture?

Yes. Having a picture on your profile is a must.

Q: I only teach young/older students

A: No problem at all! You could choose the grades you teach from your profile.

Q: Is Orcas a tutoring center?

No. Orcas is simply a mobile application that helps parents and students find the tutors they’re looking for. Sessions take place at the student’s home, at the tutor’s home, in a nearby cafe or online.
